Tree of the Month
-May-
|
Corstorphine Sycamore Acer pseudoplatanus 'Corstorphinense' (1600). Situated in the grounds of Davidson's Mains Parish Church at the junction of Queensferry Road and Quality Street, this magnificent specimen was photographed on Tuesday, 8th May, just a few days before the foliage began to lose this wonderful yellowy-green shade to a darker shade of green. The tree is one of several descendants of the Corstorphine Sycamore which stood beside the Dovecot in Corstorphine for centuries but was sadly blown down in a gale in 1998.
