Edinburgh Biodiversity Festival Event

Dear Tree Warden,

The new Edinburgh Biodiversity Action Plan is being launched at the Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh over the weekend of 20/21st March. There will be a range of activities going on, led by organisations such as the Countryside Rangers, BTCV, etc. The Biodiversity Officer wondered whether any of the Tree Wardens would be interested in contributing to the event (something for kids to do, a manned stall, a guided walk...). If you are interested in finding out more please contact Steven Webley, who will co-ordinate any input from the Tree Wardens. You can contact Steven at steven.webley@edinburgh.gov.uk or on 311 7077.

The event runs from 11am-4pm on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st March and is a part of the Botanic's season of events celebrating 2010 International Year of Biodiversity.

A host of local groups will be there with displays, information and activities for the kids:

Lothians Bat Group
Edinburgh & Lothians Badger Group
Historic Scotland Ranger Service
Pentland Hills Ranger Service
City of Edinburgh Council Countryside Ranger Service
British Trust for Conservation Volunteers with their Natural Talent apprentices
Scottish Natural Heritage
Water of Leith Conservation Trust
Edinburgh Natural History Society
South East Scotland Fungus Group
Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust
Heriot-Watt Centre for Marine Biodiversity & Biotechnology

Lots of opportunities to find out what's going on in Edinburgh & the Lothians and get involved in some volunteering if you're game!
